SA Government must immediately release Murray-Darling Royal Commission Report
Centre Alliance is calling on the South Australian Government to make the long awaited Murray-Darling Basin Royal Commissioner’s report public as soon as it has been received from the South Australian Governor.
“The Murray-Darling Royal Commission has conducted an important inquiry into our most significant national river system,” said Senator Rex Patrick, Centre Alliance Environment spokesperson. “The Murray-Darling provides both water and food security to the bulk of South Australians and the river system’s health is critical to the health of the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth. The report must be released immediately.”
The Royal Commissioner has indicated that he will be delivering his report to the Governor as early as tomorrow, ahead of the February 1 deadline.
“It is consistent and proper practice for such reports to be made public immediately after they have been passed to Government and this is exactly what must happen in this instance. The South Australian people have paid more than $5 million dollars for this report and they are entitled to the immediate benefit of it,” said Rex.
